All cases are evaluated and discussed in a weekly planning and decision-making treatment meeting, based on multidisciplinary person-centred cases, where the best approach is discussed, supported by protocols based on the most demanding international standards.
These multidisciplinary meetings, in addition to the Breast Unit resident team also include medical oncologists, surgeons, plastic surgeons, radiation oncologists, imaging specialists, pathologists, specialized nurses and, whenever necessary, also the support of specialists in psychology and nutrition.
TREATMENT

Under the close guidance of Oncologists in cases where pharmacological treatment is necessary, access to the most innovative medication is guaranteed. Personalized medical treatment is assured based on Chemotherapy, Endocrine Therapy, Immunotherapy and Targeted Therapy. This will depend on the type of tumour and its characteristics as well as the informed wishes of the patient.
Surgical Treatment
As far as surgery is concerned, the most modern minimally invasive techniques are used, including research and excision of the sentinel node. It may also involve Oncoplastic Surgery (in some cases with the support of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery). In specific cases, Intraoperative Radiotherapy may be used (a recent technique that consists of performing immediate single dose radiation during the surgical intervention and immediately after the tumour is removed, thus avoiding External Radiotherapy that lasts for the following weeks).

The Breast Unit is complemented by a dedicated and exclusive nursing team, who closely monitor the patient throughout their clinical treatment, guiding and clarifying any and all doubts that may arise, with the constant support of the medical and surgical team.
The Breast Unit Team also has a Case Manager, who monitors each clinical process in an integrated and transparent way, facilitates the scheduling of exams and treatment, monitors the exam results received, coordinating with the doctors responsible, to allow the patient to recover and overcome the disease which is essentially more important for the patient and family and also for the health team.
A The Breast Unit also has the support of the Oncology Day where it is possible to carry out, the necessary cancer treatment therapy, in privacy, convenience and comfort.
